Tigers Kings Wild Project Playing Cards

"I have always been interested and also inspired by printing methods and aesthetics of the late 1800s & early 1900s, especially the wide range of matchbook ephemera produced all over the world. I find it so interesting that so much beauty and variety can be found in material that, at the time, was produced to be 'thrown away.' This project is an artistic study and creation, in the form of playing cards, that pays homage to the beautiful world of matchbook printing of the late 1800s & early 1900s."

Tuck Case - 4.5/5
The tuck case takes on the theme of a match box and incorporates it really well. Postage stamp seal, distressed look, matte feel, and classic design stretches all the way to inside the box. Really great. Embossing or foil would have made this an easy 5/5.

Card Design - 5/5
The card design here is fantastic. I love the carry over of the distressed look of the box to the cards, the back design is ever so slightly one way, but in an appropriate way. The court cards are a perfect example of creative familiarity. Jokers and extra cards really add to the deck. Exactly the kind of design I am looking for.

Handling - 4/5
Handles really well for someone like me who is not a cardist. Maybe feels a little stiff out of the box, but relatively easy to shuffle and fan.

Game Play - 5/5
This deck is the optime of mixing creativity with functionality. The card layouts are 100% recognizable, yet nothing at all is sacrificed relating to making an interesting and unique look to the cards. I wouldn't hesitate to bring these to poker night.

Overall - 4.5/5
Really a wonderful deck. If there were just a more luxurious touch to the tuck case or true one-way backs, it be 5/5 overall, and just a perfect deck. You can't go wrong here. Get 'em while they last.

These card backs! The aged look, the matchbox card, that neat quote card about making things with your hands - this whole deck is all about attention to detail resulting in perfection. The cards handle amazingly. They look good. There is a lot going on but it seems simple and seamless overall. The card backs are among my all-time favorites.

Classic looking vintage style deck

Jackson Robinson is a rock star playing card designer, and this is one of my favourites. The deck immediately has an old style vintage feel starting with the tuck box. The cards also have classic artwork, but have been artificially aged to make them look authentic. Very stylish, and one of my favourites to use for card games.
