This deck (along with the Venus deck) exemplify the common phrase of "Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus." What this means in this deck is that the court cards are all male. I particular love the jacks as they look like really cool knights. I'm not sure if they did it purposefully, but each queen was a male soldier that wore the most revealing armor (possibly to feminize the queen court cards). The kings were further separated from the other courts by each having facial hair. In other words, there were minor differences to distinguish the court cards but keep them with the overall male theme. Fantastic!

This deck has very strong, bold colors. The courts all feature really neat warriors. Great foiling and embossing. The look of this deck is very regal. Great deck!

The journey!

I'll try to generalize this as best I can, for the sake of touching on points common to all of the planets decks, as there is a lot of good to say about each individual deck, but it would take too much time to do it in that fashion. Each deck in the Planet series is completely custom, featuring one way backs, completely custom court cards and spot cards (all custom fonts and pips), and two non-identical jokers. One joker features some sort of creature that might have come from that planet riding on a rocket, the other joker features some character or artwork that is representative of that planet. Each deck also includes an advertisement card and a "solar system" card which indicates where that particular planet is in the solar system. The Pluto deck is the one "odd man out", as it's smaller than the rest and comes enclosed in a magnetic hardened plastic case. The Pluto cards are a "mini" deck which, as of this writing, are NOT included if you are purchasing the Planets series all together as a set from this website. Also of note is that the faces of the Pluto cards have a mirror type finish, but do not include the aforementioned advertisement card of solar system card. These decks look particularly attractive as a set, displayed in order on your bookshelf. When all is said and done, these are fantastic cards, and a true collector would want to have every deck from this series in their collection.

Look at the Queens!

The Planets collection is beautifully illustrated. The boxes are magnificent with gold foil and the cards completely customized. The great curiosity is that the Queen cards are represented by male characters. Do you want to know the reason for this? The secret is in the symbol representing Mars, which is also the same used to represent the male sex.
