Pedal 1899 Heritage Series Bicycle Playing Cards
Pedal 1899 Heritage Series Bicycle Playing Cards
The U.S. Playing Card Co. revived four designs of Bicycle cards that had not been printed for at least 80 years. The cards were produced late in 2010 for an East Coast grocery store chain but are not being marketed anywhere else.
This buy it now is for 1 deck of the vintage Pedal Back. The Pedal Back was made from 1899-1917.
The series also includes:
Pneumatic #1, Red (1894-1908)
Tri-Tire #2, Blue (1905-1927)
Chainless, Blue (1899-1917)
Check my store for availability of the other decks in the series.
The pedal design on these backs are a piece of 19th Century history that need to be added to your collection, no questions asked!
I use the vintage decks for atmosphere in some magic effects. Fanning powder (zinc stearate) will cure the clumping. Only four stars due to clumping and use of standard USPCC faces (including the ace of spades). Vintage faces would have been nice!
I like Bicycle's vintage backs. This deck has an attractive back pattern and one I hadn't seen before. I was a little disappointed to find that they are NOT finished with the standard bicycle finish. They don't fan well, but rather tend to clump and stick together, almost as if they had been "roughed". They faro shuffle well, indicating they are cleanly cut, but the substandard finish caused me to rate these below standard rider backs.
