Paradigm Playing Cards

A Paradigm is a standard, perspective, or set of ideas. A Paradigm is a way of looking at something. I set out to do just that, and after a year in the making, Paradigm Playing Cards is here. The cardistry community is fascinating in every aspect of the word. I wanted to design a deck that was engineered specifically to your favorite flourish while also being a magician's best friend. A crossover deck in many ways, or the best of both worlds. I wanted to design a deck with which you could begin by showing the slickest packet cut off, then right after do an Ambitious Card routine! With pretty standardized Pips and indices and standard reimagined Courts, this deck is sure to not raise any suspicion. Although the concept and design are mine, I couldn't have brought this deck to its final glory without my two best friends.

Daniel Schneider (Black Roses Playing Cards, Orbit, Polyantha) and Luke Wadey (Mono-X, Grid, Typographic Playing Cards) played a pivotal role in the life of this deck. Daniel helped bring the visions of the number and court cards to life and is the leader in custom Courts. He proved it again with the six custom Courts in this deck. Luke took my original back design, broke it down and reimagined it, giving it depth and formatting it to an intricate grid; whilst also designing an infinite tuck box design, perfect to the style of the deck.

Fantastic Deck!

This is a stellar deck from Derek Grimes aka Dysfunkshinal Reviews. Dabbling in magic and cardistry, you can tell this deck was designed with both art forms in mind. I love the customized faces, especially the court cards and Aces. The nature of the court cards makes it also a one way design. It also comes with a duplicate card. In regards to cardistry, this deck has a partial broken border creates an awesome array for flourishers. Card springs, fans, pirouettes definitely shine with this deck. Get this deck!

Solid crossover deck - for both cardistry and magic

Creator Derek Grimes was inspired by both cardistry and magic, aiming for a crossover deck that would appeal to both communities. So this is geared to be a deck that you can use to perform a fancy flourish, and immediately follow it up with a card trick.

The bold and colourful design should appeal to cardists, with flowing lines, shapes, and contrasting bright colours. The circular target shape in the center of the card backs lends itself well to twirls and spins. There is a hint of traditional white borders, but lines burst through right to the edges, which will maximize the visual impact of spreads and fans, with a very different outcome depending on the direction of the fan.

The card faces have an immediately familiar look, as dictated by Derek's goal to provide a deck that magicians can use. But we only need to consider the Aces to see that there is a real departure from tradition, with eye-catching over-sized pips that are deliberately tilted, to make us feel somewhat on edge. This unique approach has also been applied to the court cards, which feature an oversized one-way design that is created by zooming in and tilting the traditional artwork

This is a gorgeous deck that will especially appeal to cardists, but can be enjoyed by anyone who appreciates a fashionable and stylish design that is topped with vibrant colours.
