Old Masters Bicycle Playing Cards
Old Masters playing cards - Johnny Whaam brings you a collection of the greatest paintings re-painted with 21st century painting tools.
Johnny Whaam's original art work of the Old Masters playing cards (made new) is a truly stunning piece of art! Printed by the USPPC, and branded by Bicycle on their classic air cushion finish, this beautifully designed playing card deck is bound to be a delight for art lovers everywhere.
Johnny puts his own small spin on the artwork, sure to make the original artist smile. Look for the hidden pips in each of the court cards.
I enjoy artistic playing cards, and I also enjoy art, so with this deck I get the best of both worlds. The card backs have a real vintage look, that fits well with the overall theme of this deck. But it's especially the artwork on the faces of the card that I like, although it's mostly the court cards that feature this.
Kickstarted in 2014, this is the standard edition of the Old Masters deck . The Limited edition of 2500 comes with red backs, different tuck box and seal. Johnny did a great job capturing the central essence of the masterpieces. It is not easy to figure the right amount of detail to put into a card, ensure the mirror image makes sense and joins seamlessly and still ensure the final picture still has enough detail to cram into a court card. I also like the detail of having the artist's signature on the cards.
The backs are done in a vintage style that fits the era of the old masters. The pips are custom with the cards carrying an aged looked appropriate for this deck. Johnny has done a marvelous job to ensure the theme of the deck is properly covered throughout the deck. Finally, he has thoughtfully included the full list of the artwork and their respective artists all on a card. This helps add to the value of the deck for art lovers to explore further the complete masterpiece and more of the artist's bio.
As it's a Bicycle deck, you are assured that it plays well right out of the box, but the courts will take some getting used to for gameplay.
