Buy this deck for the creative tuck box, which is brilliant. The rest of the concept is poorly conceived... Back design with its red dinosaurs is cartoony as are the ill-fitting jokers. Court cards are difficult to read.
Hold onto your butts, the Jurassic Park deck is finally here! Man creates a movie about dinosaurs...man creates cards about a movie about dinosaurs...it’s as simple as that!
The claw marks on the front of the tuck box are awesome. It's kind of awkward to open, but not unforgivable. I don't like the weathering effects because they're the same on every card and also asymmetric. The back is okay, but color choice is somewhat odd with red dinosaurs. Would have preferred a single color print (at least for everything but the logo). The court cards are okay. I do love the Mr. DNA jokers. These are my first Cartamundi cards, and the stock and finish are great.
The tuck is great. With the claw marks and faux leathery textures, this tuck looks and feels Jurassic Park. Until you try to open it. It opens like a cigarette box, but you've got the cut the perforations very carefully so as to not damage the box.
Then, you see the backs. Yes, it's got that weathered, beaten look. But with the bright colours and drawings, it makes the backs look like a JP colouring book for kids. You flip it over and there's hope for the cards yet. The weathered look goes well.
Until you reach to the courts. You were expecting dinosaurs or at least the characters in the movies? Nope; just skulls of dinosaurs, which I think were in the movies. No raptors or Rexy or Indominus in all their fearsome majesty. Just their skulls.
Could have been great, but like the Lost World, it fell short of the original Jurassic Park.
the b9 finish by Cartamundi really make these cards worth it. i enjoy the fossil court cards , and dirty distressed look to the cards. These cards look like they were put through hell like the charters in the movie, but handling is top notch and fans and spreads look awesome with the nicely down back art. definitely worth buying two, one for show and one for play.
