Eco Bicycle Playing Cards Deck
?Eco Bicycle Playing Cards Deck
2021 Edition - Final Print Run
Go green! A fully recyclable case and deck.
The cards are printed mainly in shades of green, gray and black. They have standard Bicycle Rider Backs in green and white, while the diamonds and hearts suits also are done in green rather than red. This can be a little jarring at first if you're used to red and black suits, but it's surprising how quickly they become easy to the eye.
The "Eco" design was issued to tout Bicycle as a recyclable product: Cards made from sustainable materials, including vegetable ink and starch-based laminating glue for the paper cards. The tuck cases are plain-finished cardboard, not the slick stuff used in standard Bicycle decks. And there is NO CELLOPHANE.
These Bicycle® decks are made in the
I thought might be somewhat different being that it's all recycled, even the ink used is plant based that's awesome! But these are very smooth & everything you expect in a good bicycle deck. Definitely exceeded my expectations. The green is my favorite color too;)
These are not too uncommon in stores, but I ordered them hoping they wouldn't have the little plastic hang tag on the back. I hate when that tag is stuck directly to the tuck case like on some of the cheaper card lines like Aviator or Maverick. I thought it would be very hard on this type of paper, I managed to remove it cleanly with a hair dryer and and a credit card. The deck is still nice, cool green color, and who doesn't love an uncoated tuck case.
The handling, performance, and appearance of these cards is pretty much identical to standard cards but these cards don't have plastic in them and could theoretically be composted if you had to get rid of them rather than throwing them out (I believe playing cards can't be recycled).
This is especially a good idea for packs. There's no real reason that packs need to be stored in plastic wrap, and the packs themselves don't need plastic coating in order to protect the cards within.
If your deal is avoiding plastic as much as possible, this is a good deck to get. I just wish there were more than just this deck and there were options in more colors and styles. Although the use of green/brown colors to match the overall eco theme is a nice touch.
A very unique deck of cards that are for a good cause. Made from all recyclable materials and looks great while doing so!
Despite most (if not all) of USPCC tuck cases being recyclable, I guess this one is extra recyclable LOL. Great color scheme.
