Artisan Black Playing Cards by Theory11
Indulge in the exquisite elegance and premium quality of Artisan Black Playing Cards. Each deck is a unique masterpiece, hand-illustrated and designed by Simon Frouws. With luxurious gold foil hot-stamped on sustainable black paper, these cards exude sophistication and style. Praised by David Copperfield and featured in Departures Magazine, Artisans are in a league of their own. Plus, their production process prioritizes sustainability, using FSC-certified papers, vegetable-based inks, and starch-based laminates. Add them to your collection and hold a piece of timeless beauty in your hands.
Fancy, custom decks are falling out of the trees these days. The feature that struck me immediately was the out-of-the box handling experience. These cards felt very close to broken-in, ie, silky but not slick as oiled glass. The stock seems good and they hold up to use. The graphic design is refreshingly restrained in a time of tacky, baroque, over-designed miniature posters trying to pass themselves off as playing cards. These are on my short list.
These decks handle very well. Are cut well and the backs artwork is beautiful. Nice to look at. Big ace of spades pip is also very attractive.
The Black Edition Artisans were my first premium deck when I started collecting a few years ago, and I highly recommend them for anyone looking to start a collection. They're visually striking and handle well without being so ornate that they can't be played with or otherwise used - not that you'd likely play with these, as they're really more of a collector's piece. These, along with the Provision deck, are Theory 11's cleanest must-have decks.
This is a beautiful deck, from the gold and embossing on the tuck case , the corresponding backs and detailed ace of spades. The jokers are uninteresting
Great looking deck, great feeling deck. Really appreciate them leaving the white border on the back despite being the 'black edition'. Works very well.
