Art of the Patent Playing Cards
Available as a set or individually
Celebrate over 200 years of the most famous and bizarre patent artwork through playing cards! One line-art illustration per card.
New inventions are described in patent documents, which usually have a dry written description and a number of black-and-white line-art drawings. Just about everyone involved with a patent is listed on the front cover--with one exception: the artist who created the patent drawings. In the US alone we now have over 200 years of patents—nearly 10 million documents--illustrating everything from the cotton gin to the iPod. Yet the artist is not mentioned anywhere in the patent record. They remain anonymous.
It seems that everyone is either an inventor or knows an inventor. We all appreciate the story behind a cool invention. That's why each card includes an amazing illustration and information about the invention, including the inventor's name, the patent title, the patent date, and the patent number.

Beautiful work of art! It’s on sale right after my purchase 😅. Well…. I still think PPD has great prices and packaging.
Amusement Parks deck: Want to give 3.5. I love the concept, but ultimately the designs are difficult to read because they are so small they require lookup which, I think, reduces their immediate effective enjoyment
I got this deck as a gift from PCD with a larger order. Ultimately this isn't the sort of deck that would have caught my attention, but I'm pleasantly surprised at its creativity and style. The back has a subtle one-way design aspect, while actually attracting attention to its two-way overall quality through a brilliant design of the font of the word "patent." I find this to be rather clever and useful. Having a double backer also helps in magic routines.
Moreover, the faces are intriguing - each highlighting a different yet important patent. They keep the spectator's attention, and provide material for some interesting banter at a second's notice.
All in all, I really like this deck. It handles well and I'm sure I'll find tons of good uses for it in the future. I may get the other colors as well.
No big complaints about this deck. The artwork is interesting, but clutters the face of the cards a bit. Suit and rank denotations along the edges of the cards can make it difficult to determine what card you have without further inspection. This deck would make an interesting addition to a collection, but is otherwise not well-suited for performing magic or use in card games.
I bought the set and it did not disappoint! each deck has its own category. another hit for playingcarddecks.com
