Darkfall Playing Cards

In the presence of the dark, there are those who find the city to be a wonderland of opportunity. To street artists, this urban playground is their canvas, the streets are the escape routes and the veil of night is their protection.

Designed by Jason Brumbalow & Illustrated Abraham Garcia, the Darkfall Playing Cards are a respectful nod to the street artists who charge into the darkness to imprint their brand on the city. Darkfall is a fully custom-designed deck of high-quality playing cards infused with the modern street art spirit, and masterfully crafted exclusively at the US Playing Card Company, for a premium finish and highly-durable casino quality stock.

A pulsing infusion of symbology, style and unforgiving passion, Darkfall was created for those who laugh in the face of uncertainty in order to carve their mark onto the world.

The city is waiting for your craft, grab a deck today and let the darkness fall.

Not great

I picked these up because I thought they would be perfect for me. Once I got them I was unimpressed. The cards are way too dark and plain. Definitely going to keep them in my pile of beat around cards.

An Homage to Street Artists

This deck is completely redesigned from the top down. Along with Jason Brunbalow (formally with Ellusionist) and illustrated by Abraham Garcia ( who also created the drawings for the Aviator Heritage Edition playing cards), created a custom illustrated deck with all-new pips and court cards. The embossed tuck box and the cards are completely black with light gray printing making it difficult to see in subdued lighting. The cards were a bit stiff out of the box, but they handle very well. If you're using the deck for cardistry or for a collection, there's nothing more to say, but, if you perform magic, the deck has other unique features.
Regular playing cards are created in layers with the center being a darker stock then the faces and backs so they don't become see-through. These cards are black on the front and back to the edge so they sandwiched a white stock in between. I'll mention why this is important in a moment. The deck also comes with e unique cards: two gaff cards, (with a reveal on one), and a reveal joker. One of the jokers has a Kings of Clubs reveal on it, and there is a duplicate three of hearts with a cryptic queen of hearts reveal. There is also a duplicate Ace of Spades with a white face for transitions. With the white ace of spades is in the deck, all looks fine when spread face down, or held as a deck, spread face-up though, and the ace seems to pop out for a great effect. Overall, the deck handles great and is a good addition to my collection.

A dark-themed urban style deck

The industrial theme is well done, with some nice touches like grey chain links and street inspired art. Customized courts use line drawings, and the colour scheme is minimalist throughout. This deck isn't very practical for games or magic, since the cards are quite dark and the indices not readily recognized, and it's best for cardistry or collectors.
