  • Cartomancer has a tarot feeling. The aces have a magick sigil, the borders of the 54 faces are in gold. Cartomancer will be printed by Cartamundi with B9 true linen finish and cold-foil on both sides of the cards. Full-bleed black back design and gold cold-foiled graphic elements.

  • Faro gets closer to the old poker decks from 1800's. No index at all, one-way design for all the cards. Play cards as they used to do in 1800's with a modern and an esoteric touch. Faro will be printed by USPCC on their classic linen finish.

The new standard of playing cards design

This 2018 Kickstarter deck series was awarded the 2018 Overall deck of the year and also voted as Best Courts, Ace, Joker for 2018. It also placed in the top 3 for a few other categories. With these decks in your hands, you'll see why. From the tucks itself, printed by Lotrek of Oath Playing Cards, the foiling and embossing really bring out all the fine details to life. The decks themselves are full of intricate, detailed designs.
The cartomancer edition is designed in a tarot style while the Faro edition is meant for playing a game of Faro. (Google it for more info on the Faro game) The designs also hark back to the pre-19th century card design where the courts are 1 way and cards without indices.
This maybe more expensive than your regular decks, but they are worth every dollar. Get one and you'll see what the fuss is all about. Lorenzo has shown what one can do with $20-25 dollar decks; raising the standard for all other card designers to follow.

Step inside this magnificent house!

These decks are so over the top and luxurious, you won't want to use any other deck ever again. When I say that these decks are completely custom, you have to really hold them and appreciate it for yourself, as there is not a single trace of anything standard on these cards. The boxes are beautiful inside and out. The one way backs use beautiful and ornate metallic gold inks displaying a cross keys design. The cartomancer version uses metallic gold borders on all card fronts, and a background on the jokers and ace of spades that is completely gold. The faro version, while not as ornate, is still amazing. These decks almost feels like they're telling a story of a mysterious old mansion. The ace of spades has a huge center pip with the king and queen holding keys, and the text "Room 17" at the top of the card, adorned on either side by a set of crossed keys. The other aces, while not as ornate, also feature a key and the names of other rooms (library, cellar, and attic). The "Room 17" on the ace of spades is obviously a reference to the artist of this deck, known as Stockholm 17, who very well may be the greatest playing card designer of all time. The artwork on the faces is simply unreal. You'll never see anything like this on any other deck of cards. I can continue to type, but it couldn't do it justice, and I'd have to sit here and wax poetic for hours about this deck to even come close to describing how amazing this is. You WILL NOT regret making this purchase!

Another top deck from Stockholm17

Stockholm17 is the alter ego of Lorenzo Gaggiotti, a designer from Sweden with a large following, and this deck represents his latest effort to hit the market. A limited edition two deck set, it consists of two different decks: Cartomancer, which is a tribute to the tarot deck; and Faro, which features cards without indices and a one-way design, just like the vintage decks of the 1800s. I have the Faro deck, and it is just as stunning as it looks in pictures. A wonderful deck for the collector, and one of my favourites.

Stunning Work

From the fecund mind of Lorenzo comes this latest creation pulling us back to an earlier time of playing cards.

The Faro variant (produced by USPCC) pulls some of its inspiration from the earlier playing cards without an index on the cards. The back and courts use a one-way design of just stunning beauty. The one way courts are where this deck shines. The Cartomancer variant produced by Cartamundi using cold foil has a rich and luxurious look and feel. Both variants handle exceptionally well. These decks are firmly rooted in the past and in the present, classic design with modern production and handling. The tucks were produced by Lotrek and are produced to exacting standards and exceptional quality.

If you don't have any decks designed by Lorenzo/Stockholm17, this and some of his earlier Gemini decks are currently available on this site.
