Hanami Fusion is a vibrant floral-themed deck featuring 54 unique, fully custom, and beautifully illustrated poker-sized cards.

The Hanami Fusion Deck was designed to combine standard poker indices, hanafuda imagery, and custom-designed hanafuda indices into a multipurpose deck that can be used to play Eastern and Western games. The Hanami hanafuda indices indicate the flower, month, and type of each card. These helpful indices also make the Fusion deck a great way to learn and teach hanafuda.

Inspired by the floral motifs and symbolism-rich imagery of traditional Japanese hanafuda, Hanami is a stunning modernization and celebration of a timeless classic.

What is hanafuda? Hanafuda are floral-themed pip-less playing cards, popular in Japan, Korea, and Hawaii. Hanafuda decks have 12 suits. Each suit is represented by a month of the year and each month is represented by a flower. Hanafuda can be used to play numerous games, including traditional classics such as Koi-Koi, Hachi-Hachi (88), Go-Stop, and many more.

Hanami Fusion Deck is a multipurpose deck that combines standard poker indices, hanafuda imagery, and hanafuda indices. As noted above, the Hanami Fusion Deck can be used to play both Eastern and Western games.

Beautiful Fusion!

The Japanese theme runs rampant in this deck... in a good way. I love that there is both traditional Hanafuda influence combined with western playing card style influences. This makes it so that you can play both Eastern and Western games with the same deck. I'm sure these cards were designed for both gameplay and collecting. It's a little more limited in cardistry and magic. Although I feel the handling is okay (which is passable for gameplay), it doesn't handle with the fluidity of cards manufactured by USPCC. This limits the aforementioned uses in cardistry and magic. All that being said, it's still a beautiful deck that would make anyone happy!

Combining Hanafuda playing cards with a normal Western deck

This is part of a project that created two decks: a Hanafuda deck for traditional Japanese/Korean games, and a Fusion deck that incorporates Western suit icons/indices. Both decks have a tuck box touched with gold foil for a completely lavish look, with a gold foil stamp and completely gold foil interior. The Hanami Hanafuda deck is magnificent, but you can only use it to play Hanafuda games and not standard card games, since it doesn't have traditional suits. Fortunately IndianWolf Studios also made this Fusion deck, which is a hybrid that fuses the Hanafuda cards with the familiar indices of a standard deck!

These cards are white bordered unlike the black bordered Hanafuda cards, and contain the number and suit we'd expect in a normal deck, as well as the flower and type corresponding to their identity in a Hanafuda deck. The result is quite a different look than the Hanafuda deck, but it is practical and can be used for standard games, and yet it does retain the charming and vibrant panoramic artwork of the original. If you place four cards of the same value besides each other, they still have a polyptych effect, with the artwork combining to make a single image.

Both the Hanami decks were produced with LPCC's Emerald Finish with poker sized cards. Also look out for the 236 page rulebook produced by the same publisher, which gives rules for 37 different games playable with Hanafuda cards deck. - BoardGameGeek reviewer EndersGame
